The two MISSIONS of BDPF are:
- To perpetuate the legacy of Briggs et al. v. Elliott et al. of making positive community changes by facilitating the educational, social and physical well-being of all members of the community.
- To honor and memorialize the people whose courage and sacrifices were responsible for the lawsuit Briggs et al. v. Elliott et al. by stressing educational achievement, knowledge of local history, and responsible citizenship.
The Foundation’s VISION is of a thriving community that:
- Provides opportunities for each individual to make positive contributions for the common good, and
- Recognizes the historical contributions of all its citizens.
This vision is based on a philosophy that—if supplied with appropriate opportunities, resources and encouragement—all people of the community can realize their full potential.
